David started playing piano when he was 5 years old and now teaches private piano and organ lessons professionally. He has been a full time piano teacher for 49 years. He was also organist, pianist, and choir accompanist at Red Bridge United Methodist Church for 37 years, and he now has the same responsibilities at the First Presbyterian Church of Lee's Summit. He has also assumed the position of choir accompanist at Lee's Summit North High School.

David graduated from Ruskin High School in 1967, then continued his education at Harvard College, graduating in 1971 with a degree in Physical Sciences. He was also the accompanist for the Harvard Glee Club for 3 years.

While he prefers to perform classical music, he teaches everything from ragtime and religious to jazz and current popular hits.
